About FIC

The Finance & Investment Club was founded in the winter of 2007. Our founders noticed that UC Davis lacked an organization that catered to students with interests in finance or investing. Thus, FIC was created to allow those students to further enhance their university experience, and better prepare for their future careers.

Our club focuses on both fundamental and technical aspects of investing, as well as a clear understanding of economics. Through the implementation of these three analyses, a successful investing strategy can be developed.

Officers

Shiv Sachdev, President

Shiv is a senior majoring in Managerial Economics with a minor in Psychology. He is also taking accounting classes online to fulfill requirements to take the CPA exam after graduation. Shiv is the current President of FIC, after acting as the Event Planning Coordinator and Vice President in prior quarters. Shiv has interned at the CA State Assembly, Coca-Cola India, and most recently at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he will work as a Tax Associate upon graduation. His interests include attending country concerts, barbecuing, weight lifting, boating, and traveling.

Dhinesh Ganapathiappan, Senior Vice President

Dhinesh is one of the founders of FIC and has been involved with the club since its inception in 2007. His role includes planning and managing the operations of the club and building business development. After graduating in 2009 with a degree in Economics, Dhinesh currently works as a Fund Accountant at State Street specializing in International Developed Markets. Prior internships in the investments and venture capital fields include Global Heritage Fund, Worldsight, and Red Herring. Dhinesh is an active investor, trading stocks and options for over six years.

Mike Kaufman, Treasurer

Mike is a senior working towards completing his degree in Economics and Global and International Studies. He joined FIC in the winter of 2008 and is currently serves as the Treasurer. His previous work experiences include internships with Banc of America Investment Services, Inc., Morgan Stanley, and most recently Deloitte Consulting. Upon graduation he will work in Audit at Armanino McKenna, the largest full-service California based CPA and Consulting firm.

Kevin Yip, Director

Kevin is a senior pursuing a degree in Managerial Economics and a minor in Chinese. He joined the FIC in the winter of 2008 hoping to learn more about financial markets. Since then he has gained valuable experience at Morgan Stanley as a Wealth Management intern and Forex Capital Markets as a research analyst intern. Kevin has studied abroad in both Hong Kong and Shanghai, and in the future hopes to work in Asia. Upon graduation Kevin will work as an Assurance Associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Kevin enjoys Yelping new restaurants, traveling in Asia, and reading the NY Times.
